God Ain’t Too Busy for You.

By Patrick Hawthorne

“Ya want to know something I’ve discovered…something that will bless your heart concerning our Heavenly Father?  He is not so busy that He does not have time for you or for matters that are important to you.  As a matter of fact, He delights in you and wants to spend time with you.  How do I know?  Well, let me tell you a little story.”

“The other day I lost a rather expensive phone case. It is the type that protects my phone from the invisible hand that occasionally sneaks up behind me and violently shoves my phone so that it leaps from my hand in a graceful dive before cascading to a concrete surface.  Well, that sounded better than saying I can sometimes be a klutz.  Anyways, I looked everywhere for that thing.  Finally I gave in to the fact that it was gone and maybe I would find it one day.

Later in the evening, I was sitting on the couch waiting for my wife to finish ordering our evening meal on line.  It was Friday night and we were headed to one of our favorite restaurants to pick up a meal and bring it home.”  I give you that bit of trivia so that you know my thoughts were not on the Bible, were not on the things of the Lord, and not on anything holy.  My mind was focused on my growling belly which itself was in extreme protest over its emptiness.”

Suddenly I heard within my spirit, “Go look in your office by the book shelf.”

“Being sensitive to the voice of my Lord…You do know that His sheep hear and know His voice don’t ya?  Well anyway, I stood right up and walked into the office.  I looked around for a second but did not see anything.  Getting ready to walk out, thinking that maybe I imagined the whole thing, I looked down at my feet.  Lying there, right between the book shelf and my desk sat the phone case.  The case is dark, so it blended in rather nicely with the shadows.”

“Walking out of the office, my wife looked up and said, “Whatcha doing?”  It must have been obvious to her that I was up to something because I had a familiar look on my face.”

“Oh, the Lord just showed me where my phone case was.”

“Cool.  So let me guess, now you’ve lost your phone…”

Sigh… Yes’m…

For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

What a providential and gracious God…

    • Yes sir…I didn’t mention this, but the other day I was nailing a barbed wire fence when a nail went flying after being struck wrong and landed in the grass. It was in an area that I frequently travel with my truck. I prayed and said, Lord please help me find that nail. I looked but did not see it. Instead of becoming frustrated, I thanked the Lord that the nail would appear. Turning around to head back to the fence, the nail lay right at my foot. I have stuff like this happen quite often. I have just come to trust the Lord so much for the little things that when the big things happen, I don’t sweat them.
