Who Am I?

By Patrick Hawthorne

Many look to the world in order to validate their existence.  Yes, even the born again child of God.  With voices of one accord, they shout, “Who am I?” Yet, the answer they receive from the world is often cruel and damaging.

“You are an insignificant bug,” shouts the world!  “And, you shall remain insignificant your entire life.  Maybe, just maybe, you will be one of the few fortunate.  Perhaps you will be able to claw your way up and out of life’s miry pit or grab hold of the tail feather of the golden goose in order to be elevated to the heights of the elite.”

What a load of bunk!

If you are a child of God, you have no business wallowing in the mud hole created by the world. Our (the Body of Christ’s) validation comes not from what the world thinks of us but who we are in and through Christ Jesus.  Our first job, as a born again child of God, should be to understand who we are so that we can help a lost and dying world discover who they are.

So, who am I?

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus…2 Corinthians 5:21

I am a joint heir with Jesus…an adopted son of Almighty God…Romans 8:17

I am a vessel of honor, sanctified (made holy) and useful for my Masters work…2 Tim 2:20

Who am I to claim I can help a lost and dying world?

I am the messenger of the Lord of Hosts…Malachi 2:7

I am bound in the Spirit of God to do His will, no matter the cost…Acts 20:22

I am bold and not afraid of the faces of those to whom I share the Gospel…Jeremiah 2:7-8

I am obligated to my Heavenly Father to speak what He commands me to speak…1 Kings 22:14

I am sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit so that I may instruct others in His Word…Daniel 5:16-17

I am sent by the Lord to turn people from darkness to light…Acts 26:17

I am obedient to God even if it means going against the laws of man…Acts 5:28-29

I am ready in season and out of season to preach the Word…2 Timothy 4:2

I am not ashamed of the Gospel and gratefully accept the power contained therein…Romans 1:16-17

Now, the question is, “Who are you?”
