Has the Lord placed a dream in your heart, but you have not seen it come to fruition? Have you become weary from hanging onto your God given dream? If so, I would like to offer you some advice. Don’t miss the path the Lord has for you while looking for the road.
Sometimes, we are so busy looking for the fulfillment of the dream that God has given us that, oftentimes, we overlook the little paths to the left or the right that will eventually lead us to that dream. Let me give you an example.
I love to teach the Word. My dream is to teach to various groups or churches where the people love Jesus with all their heart, but are struggling with who they are in Christ. Their opinion of themselves is one of unworthiness instead of rejoicing in the knowledge that they are the sons and daughter of Almighty God. Sounds like a good dream doesn’t it? The problem is that, instead of heading down a road that would lead me to the fulfillment of this dream, I seem to be going in an entirely different direction…a writing direction.
A couple of years ago, through a series of events, I learned that God has given me a gift for writing. At the time of the discovery I didn’t want to be a writer…or, should I say, I didn’t know that I wanted to be a writer. Two books and several blogs later, I’m now a writer. And, because of some of what I have written, I’ve been able to reach more people for the Gospel than I ever would by speaking alone.
By taking the God intended side paths leading to the fulfillment of my dream, I’m learning, growing, and gaining wisdom. Most of all, I’m learning to be patient and to put my trust in the Lord. When will I see the fulfillment of my dream? I have no idea. But, what I do know is that I am learning to take joy in the journey. Be blessed.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
