Don’t be a Brain Damaged Christian

By Patrick Hawthorne

brainWe have the mind of Christ!  That is not my opinion, but the Word.  Why then do we Christian’s, and yes I’m including myself, insist on walking around as if we are brain damaged zombies?

Think about it a second!  To have the mind of Christ means that we abide under the same anointing for clear thought and comprehensive understanding as did Jesus.  After all, we have the same Holy Spirit residing in us don’t we?

So why do we have so many problems?  Well, to start, many of us (Christian’s) choose to walk with our same old dead man brains instead of putting on our new brains.

“Why, that is absurd, Patrick!”  How can I trade in my old model brain for a new improved brain?  Have you lost your mind, man?”

Yes!  You got it!  I did lose my mind!  In 2 Corinthians 5:17 we are told that when we accept Jesus as our Lord we become new creations…a new species of being that takes on the very nature of God Himself.  That includes the ability to think in line with God’s way of thinking.

In Ephesians 4:23, Paul tells us that we are to be renewed in the spirit of our minds.  That word, “Renewed,” is an interesting word that actually means to take on a new mind.  How do we do this?  Back up to verse 22 and we find that we are to do this by changing the way we SPEAK.  We retrain our brains by reversing course on our former stinking thinking and speaking.

Allow me to present you with an example. I know people who have heard they were stupid so many times they started buying into that garbage.  To compensate, they would either play the part of dumb and dumber, or they would suddenly become an expert in every field regardless if they knew the subject or not.  In both cases, they looked all the more ignorant.

Instead of agreeing with the world, SPEAK the Word over your life.

  • “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.” (Phil 4:13)
  • “I am God’s masterpiece, created for good works.” (Eph 2:10)
  • “I am a member of Christ’s body and a partaker of His promise.” (Eph 3:6)
  • “I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:37)

Notice that I’m not just throwing around positive thoughts, but I am incorporating the power of God’s Word through Christ Jesus.  I am speaking God’s Word back to Him.  In other words, I’m becoming of the SAME MIND AS GOD.  Whether it is healing, mental focus, or instructions for life, look to the Word and begin SPEAKING the Word over your life.  Pretty soon, your brain will begin an intense healing process.  Be blessed.
