There is a war being waged. Although natural in its manifestation, this war is anything but natural; it is spiritual and is being waged against all who call upon Jesus as Lord and Savior. For the past couple of years, the attacks have ramped up exponentially. Daily, Christian’s are being martyred because of their uncompromising faith. Although the number varies from one source to another, it has been estimated that the world wide Christian death toll for 2014 alone was at least ten-thousand, if not more.
But that is overseas…surely that would never happen in the United States. If that is your thinking, don’t kid yourself. Once unheard of in the United States, Christians are now being overtly discriminated against by the government. Currently, college students are being told to alter their views or suffer expulsion for their values. Workers are being fired because they dare hold to the traditional values of marriage. How long before the discrimination here turns physical?
What is the solution? How do we prepare for an attack where the enemy is unseen? The only solution is to adhere to the Word of God by sanctifying (make holy) our thoughts. We each have garbage in our lives that must be dealt with today…not tomorrow; tomorrow may be too late.
To sanctify our thoughts is to go before the Lord and to not only admit our short comings but to prepare our hearts and minds to meet Him; to be in a state of expectation. No matter what may come, we are not taken off guard or surprised as those whose hearts are weighed down by the cares of life.
For me, in order to ensure that I am ready for the possibility of an attack tomorrow, I must sanctify my thoughts today. As each day comes, I must repeat the process. Will this be easy? No! However, the small amount of discomfort endured now is surely worth the price to know that I will be ready for whatever comes my way tomorrow. This is my battle plan!
Get up, sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the Lord God of Israel: “There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.” (Joshua 7:13)
